Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a type of cosmetic dentistry procedure that involves placing a cap over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, size, and function. Teeth crowns are often used when a tooth is too damaged to fix with a filling, such as after a root canal, a large cavity, or a fracture. They are made from materials like porcelain or ceramic and are designed to blend in with your natural teeth.

What are Dental Crowns?
We’re putting your comfort first
Dental crowns, sometimes called a tooth crown, are custom-fitted caps that cover and protect a damaged or weakened tooth. They’re often the best solution when a tooth is too damaged for a simple filling, like after a big cavity, a root canal, or a crack. Crowns are made to perfectly match the shape, size, and colour of your natural teeth.
Crafted from strong materials like porcelain, ceramic, or metal, dental crowns restore the tooth’s shape and size while also reinforcing it, making it easier to bite and chew. They’re custom-made to fit your tooth perfectly, ensuring both comfort and a natural look. With proper care, a crown can last for many years, making it a dependable option for keeping your tooth in good shape.
If you’ve got a tooth that’s cracked, worn down, or just not as strong as it used to be, a dental crown might be just what you need to get it back in shape and keep your smile looking great.

The Dental Crowns Procedure
Here at ieDental, we only use porcelain crowns for our dental crown treatments because they don’t contain any metals and are free of substances that may be harmful to your health. The dental crown process begins with a consultation, where we’ll assess the condition of your tooth and discuss your options.
Once we’ve determined that a crown is the right choice, the next step is to prepare your tooth. This usually involves removing any damaged or decayed areas and reshaping the tooth so the crown can fit securely. We’ll then take detailed 3D scans of your tooth to ensure the crown is custom-made to fit perfectly.
Just like porcelain veneers, dental crowns are made in a special lab that uses advanced technology to create a piece that matches the colour, shape, and size of your natural teeth. So, while your permanent crown is being crafted in the lab, we’ll place a temporary crown on your tooth to protect it.
Once your porcelain crown is ready, you’ll come back for a second visit, where we’ll remove the temporary crown and carefully place the permanent one. After checking the fit and making any necessary adjustments, we’ll bond the crown to your tooth, and you’ll be all set with a strong, natural-looking restoration.
